Indeed Sues ZipRecruiter

Indeed.com has filed a lawsuit against its competitor, ZipRecruiter, accusing them of engaging in misleading advertising and marketing practices to poach Indeed’s employer customers.

Here’s what happened.

Indeed introduced a new policy restricting the double-posting of free jobs to reduce confusion caused by duplicate listings for job seekers. After this update, Indeed claims that ZipRecruiter launched a misleading campaign, falsely informing customers that Indeed was ending free job postings.

The lawsuit, filed in mid-October 2024, centers around a change in Indeed’s policy regarding free job postings that took effect on October 1, 2024
