A new site to manage contingent employees is coming this fall, this one backed by a heavyweight staffing company owned by Janice Bryant Howroyd.
GigSource, about a year in the making, will be a contract/freelance management platform. In other words, not just a job board to go find someone to do a gig, but, particularly for larger companies, a place to manage contractors. Companies can source people from their own private pool of people managed through the tool, or from the public community on GigSource. They can also have GigSource curate the talent network for them, almost acting like an RPO for non-FTE hires.
Tracey Friend is the executive leader in the company, which is a spinoff from Agile 1, part of the big ACT 1 Group. Kevin Spiller is the practice leader. Friend says three things make GigSource different than the rest of its competitors: the backing from ACT 1; an emphasis on STEM jobs; and a strength in diversity sourcing.
The beta release is scheduled for November 1, for the “freelancer community only,” Friend says. The platform will open up for clients February 1.
